The Easter story is an extraordinary story of love: love filled with self-sacrifice and devotion, in which God gives His Only Begotten Son for the salvation of humankind. It may remind us of our own stories—of serving our neighbours with our time and strength, sometimes even risking our lives—or of the ways others have helped us and, in doing so, become our neighbours.

The Easter story is also filled with hope. It reminds us that death and suffering do not have the final word. Life overcomes death. Hope overcomes despair. This is what we hear in the brief Easter greeting: Christ is risen! He is risen indeed!
