The Evangelical Lutheran community of St. Martin, Dnipro district of Kyiv was registered at the end of 2019. The community began as a missionary group, which soon became a full-fledged community and became part of the German Evangelical Lutheran Church of Ukraine.
The community has a pronounced diaconical profile, pastor and members of the community serve homeless people in Kyiv. And some of them are employees of the public organization House of Mercy Kyiv (HОМ), which provides assistance to the homeless elderly and homeless people with signs of disability.
In 2021, the community purchased a country house, which became its spiritual center. A group of believers of the church permanently lived in the village of Andriivka, Kyiv region, and a shelter for former homeless people was also set up. Unfortunately, it was destroyed by the russians during the occupation of Kyiv region in 2022.
Since then, the community has been renting premises. During the war, the community expanded its service to other vulnerable categories of the population. Organizes free lunches and brings elderly people to the church in a specially purchased minibus.
By 2024, the community has 20 confirmed members. Up to 40 people attend the liturgy and other spiritual events. The community also organizes services in the HOM social centers and the state boarding house for the homeless. The church has a confirmation course, which is attended by people who wish to join it.
